Power Play #11: Be imaginative

Each day entrepreneur Rose Herceg presents a how-to power tip that challenges the typical Machiavellian theories of power. This is the Power Playbook: your quick-fix guide to influencing people …in a good way.

Power Play #11: Be imaginative

Every Power Player knows that imagination is gold. If you don't got one, get one. And fast.

Imagination is the one thing you never have to attribute to someone else. It can dig you out of a hole. It can dazzle your team. And most importantly, it tells the world that you are able to conjure up out of absolutely nowhere something magical and brilliant.

Power Players have actual talent. They can bring it anytime, anywhere. And they know that no one can dispute a genius idea when they hear one. Mostly though, they have genuine faith in being able to call on their talent when it's required. Like a superhero who knows his power will never fail him, they know that their imaginative streak will always be there to deliver a big fat one to the bottom line.

They know their imagination can get cynical corporate types to feel like they are eight years old all over again. And transporting an ageing, fat, tired dude back to his childhood is real, hard-to-come-by power.
